Join us for JTALK!, the first NihonmachiROOTS language & cultural exchange event in Japantown.  We hope JTALK! will give non-Japanese speakers the chance to practice their nihongo and exchange culture with a native Japanese person.

Details

  • JTALK! will have five native Japanese speakers to informally teach Japanese and share Japanese culture
  • Students will be organized into small groups (2-3 per teacher) according to their level in Japanese.
  • JTALK! will be divided into two parts:
    1. The first 30 minutes or so will focus on a grammar theme: How to properly introduce yourself and/or someone else
    2. The remainder of the time will be devoted to free conversation
  • Please feel free to bring any pictures of yourself e.g. family, interests/hobbies, hometown map, pets, etc. that will help facilitate conversation topics and add more information  cultural exchange

**Please indicate your level of proficiency in Japanese before attending.  This is very important so we can organize the groups properly.

  • A NEW JAPANTOWN COMMUNITY PLANNING COUNCIL TO BE DISCUSSED

-  Discussion on Electing community members and stakeholders to the new Council

-  Discussion on Council members voting on issues and to approve or disapprove the community recommendations of the Japantown BNP, prior to submission to the City Planning Commission
